Do you know anything about this ring?

So I really wanted to do your question its justice but could not find anything on this story until…I contacted Charles Rae, the author of the article. Yep, pretty awesome! Anywho, he sent me a transcript of what the story was about. Here’s the text as sent:

“It was a gift from the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. And she’s had it a long time: the ring was part of a Pounds 1 million sapphire set he gave her as a wedding gift when she married Charles, nearly 13 years ago.

When she does give the ring an outing, she swaps it for the sapphire  Charles bought her. Just one of those little habits.”

Pretty nifty, huh?!
